Presentation of National Service for TV Audience Measurement (SNMATV)

In ARMA (Romanian Association for Audience Measurement), the National Service for TV Audience Measurement (SNMATV) is organized, representing the barometer of the TV consumption behaviour from Romania, awareness about TV audiences being the reference element for all those who want to use this channel as a mass communication means.

The service utilizes a peoplemeter system (devices installed on TV sets in the households selected in the researched panel) which records, second after second, the TV channel watched. Subsequently, this data is reported to the institute, validated by the production software and then transmitted to clients. Via an IT system (InfoSys) all this data is processed, the wanted reports being generated.

The selection of the households where these peoplemeters are installed relies on a market research system, by using a statistical procedure to extract a sample (panel) of households, representative for the TV consumption behaviour at national level.

The net size of the panel is 1,200 households, the survey being conducted in non-institutionalised households with at least one functional TV set, on people of over 4 years old, irrespective of nationality or socio-economic status.

During 2011-2015, the National Service for TV Audience Measurement has been provided by Kantar Media.

The National Service for TV Audience Measurement supposes daily audience data and monitoring of programmes, spots and promos.
